Hello all, my iPhone 13 pro had a minor defect out of the box (bent border) so I contacted apple and agreed to send me an express replacement. Fast forward to beginning of last week, I received my replacement box from Fedex and noticed it felt unusually light. Opened it up and no white box with the replacement phone. Contacted apple again, told them what happened and they said they’re going to investigate fedex. I sent them pictures of the box and told them the tape was barely holding on the side like it had been tampered with beforehand. They said I could file a police report and it would help speed up the process but I haven’t done so yet. Said it could take from 7-10 days to come to a conclusion on what to do next. Anybody else dealt with this situation before? What’s the process like going forward?

Sidenote: Why didn’t IOS 15 come with more wallpapers? There was only one new pre installed.
Why are you waiting to get the police report? Whether you end up using it or not, better to have it in your possession, a phone which you have already paid for.

Ok well first Apple said they’d let me know if I needed it. It sounded optional. Second, phone which I’ve paid for? Yeah I’m using my current 13 Pro right now and am waiting on the replacement. I’m not paying twice for the phone, I’ve already done it once. There’s no way they’re going to make me eat the cost of this replacement. This is more so Apple’s problem than it is mine. It’s their device that was lost before it got sent to me, so they can find it.

You paid for the express replacement, therefore you paid for the phone.

It would behoove you to file a report post haste. That shows Apple and the carrier whom they contract with, that you are serious. If Apple says doing so can speed up the process of replacement, stop dragging your feet.
Yeah but why would I not be serious? They’re not going to charge me for the phone regardless.

You paid to have the express replacement sent to you. The charge is pending on your card unless Apple didn't follow protocol.

You came here asking for input and then you shoot down valid advice. Why create the thread if you are going to argue with those trying to help?

Last time I checked express replacement parts put a hold on your credit card for the price of the part which only gets lifted when you return the defective unit.
since you don't plan on returning anything as long as you don't get your replacement you'll most likely end up being charged for the replacement phone until the situation gets sorted out.

so yea, go get a police report. you will need one anyways

That’s the only questions I asked in my original post… I didn’t ask y’all what I should do next. Yeah I’m not against the police report and just filed one actually. But, this is honestly Apples problem, and I was going to see how far they can get before I get real involved. If you would’ve heard the conversation I had with them, filing the police report sounded very optional even though it would speed things up.

File the police report.
If you don’t/aren’t willing to file the police report, that will shift their suspicion to you.

Sounds like your problem. You got the pending charge. Lol. You ask about process and not what you should do? That’s kinda what the process is. You doing something.

Technically, it's not Apple's problem at all - it's FedEx's problem. Apple has no control over what happens to the phone once they ship it to you. If they wanted to be hardnosed about it, they could tell you to kick rocks and take it up with FedEx to recoup the replacement cost.
