Hi everyone,

BestBuy has a deal that I could pick up a 2013 8/256 for $1299. I have a $100 EDU discount and a 10% off one item coupon. That would come to about $1079 without tax.

Or I could pick up a new model for $1399 from Apple with a $100 giftcard.

Also, is it wise to buy the rMBP now, when the rMBA is potentially coming soon, and there's also a rumor of a new, not 12-inch MBA, coming this year?

Thanks for your help.

I would go with the Best Buy deal. You aren't going to notice the minuscule difference in speed.

The MBA was recently updated. I think it'll be a bit before it goes retina. If the 12" rMBP comes in the Fall, it'll likely have Broadwell's low-power processor (the only one due to ship this year) so til likely won't be very fast, but it'll have insane battery life.

BTW, do you have a link to that best Buy deal?

Without a doubt go with the 2013 model.

I found the Best Buy deal and looked at the fine print...apparently the $100 off EDU "cannot be combined with any other coupon or offer." So if it works...let me know! :D

Edit: OK, I found the Student Best Buy deals thread. It works, but the student coupon used to be $150 off...hrumph.
