So I just picked up a JBL Bluetooth speaker to go with my 13" rMBP. While the two pair fine, it seems like the connection always goes to "sleep" after like 10 seconds of inactivity. That causes a few second delay for the speaker to "wake up" and start playing audio when I play a new track in iTunes or something.

When I pair the speaker with my iPhone 5, it seems like it is always listening for audio and never seems to "sleep." Is there a problem with the rMBP's Bluetooth or does the Mac just work differently than the iPhone when paired with Bluetooth devices?

Also, the sound quality when paired with the Mac is a little less than when the speaker is paired with my iPhone. More subtle pops and interference type sounds. Any idea why these things are happening?
