13" rMBP max number of external displays

Hello, I'm considering buying a 13" rMBP w/ stock everything except 16gb of ram. As I'm a software engineer, I usually work on 2-3 external monitors and not really on the screen itself unless I'm on the go.

I know the previous version of rMBP 13" can handle 2 external monitors without a problem and the previous rMBP 15" can handle 3 external monitors without a problem. Does anyone know how many external monitors can the new rMBP 13" handle? On apple's website both are listed as 2 displays max.....
