Looking to upgrade my 2010 macbook air. Still works great just long in the tooth. Wonering if any macbook pro guys lamented not getting a air, and found the rmbp too heavy?

Once Macbook Air gets a retina screen upgrade, I will be switching to the Air. Until then, once you go retina, you don't go back.

Most of 13" PCs are heavier than the rMBP. So the Air is just insanely light.
But since it lacks Retina it's a no-brainer to get the rMBP. Plus the black frame looks a lot nicer than the grey one.

Had the Air and seriously considering go back to it , why ? because of battery life. In my opinion the graphics on the 13" rMBP's are horrible.

The battery life i get with the rmbp is insanely good, i don't need a retina to get 1-2 hours more. Even when i know i have to use the laptop 7-8 hours at school i don't bring the power brick, i have no need for it.

The 13" Haswell rMBP is currently as good as it gets for Apple imo. The smaller form factor (than the Air) is incredible and I actually like the added weight/build as everything feels much sturdier to me. Battery life lasts all day for my purposes and Iris packs a surprisingly powerful punch. I used a 13" Haswell Air for several months when they were first released, and I find its rMBP counterpart better in every way imaginable.

I honestly only bring my laptop with me on 5 trips or so per year. So lugging around a extra pound is no big deal. However I do like using my laptop in bed and the air is great for balancing on your belly.

For portability, the MBA can't be beat. I LOVE my rMBP, but when I'm up and about, it's the MBA + Photo equip. in my camera bag.

At home, I use an iPad 9/10 times or my Note 3 :p

Also, the second option in the poll is odd. The weight difference between the 13" rMBP and 13" MBA is trivial, at best.

I'm still Happy with my Late 2013 rMBP.

I don't think slapping a Retina screen into a MBA would even make me want one.. Too fragile.. I would always have to worry about bending it, or something.

Avoided the whole decision problem by getting a 15" rMBP.

The 13" mbpr is already so light compared to other laptops that it's not even worth getting the air at this point. I got the mbpr and I wouldn't trade it for an air. And the screen is honestly worth the extra money/weight.

Be interesting to see if you went to the Macbook Air forum and asked the question "Do you wish you got a retina Macbook Pro instead?"

There's too much overlap between the 13" MBA and the 13" rMBP, I think apple needs to do something, there's almost no reason AFAIK to opt for the MBA. Perhaps battery life is really the only major difference.

No i would never change my 13" retina for a Macbook Air. The screen is just amazing! :D

And that's why many people are choosing the 13" rMBP over the MBA - its hard to pass up such a gorgeous screen :)

Upgraded last month to a 13" rMBP from a 2012 13" MBA. Can't say I miss the light weight of MBA, and for sure the screen is just so gorgeous in rMBP.
