With WWDC just around the corner, what are the chances of Apple upgrading/updating their 13'' Retina Macbook Pro with a dedicated graphics card, or at least having a option for it for a BTO Macbook, or will they just leave that for the 15'' Retina. Also, i heard that Haswell is supposed to be quite a leap in integrated graphics, how much of a leap are we talking. Would you be able to play GTA IV and/or GTA V with the baseline 13'' Retina Macbook Pro with Haswell and get a decent frame rate? Thanks in advance.

Won't happen.

Whole point of the 13" is to keep the price lower to appeal to more.

Having it as an option would probably mean they would need two totally different designs, and that'd be expensive and very odd.

I bet the farm it won't happen

Dedicated GPU is extremely doubtful, but I think there's a decent chance it will get Intel's new high end integrated graphics, either the Iris or Iris Pro.

There are some benchmarks here for various games:

It will probably run GTA fine at a lower resolution like 1440x900.

Alright that is all im interested in. As long as it can play GTA V at a decent rate, something like 30 fps, at 720 or 1080p im good with it. Im a casual gamer and with the estimated price of $600 for the Xbox One, its just to much to buy.

But you can buy GTA V on Xbox 360 or Ps3? If your not going to play at the highest quality why not get a copy for the current generation consoles? Or am I missing something here?

Never thought of that, thanks. Only problem is that i have to buy a monitor, keyboard, mouse and cables, which is like another $400. Ill see how it all pans out on the day of WWDC. Hoping for the best.... dont fail me :apple:

Can't you play the game on a TV with the Xbox/PS3 controller? Or do you prefer keyboard gaming?

While I agree with you that they will never add discrete graphics I don't think thats the point at all.

The 13" rMBP certainly isnt cheap - it is for people that want a smaller form factor than a 15" computer but want to retain some power. And a great screen of course.

I didn't say it was cheap. I said it's cheaper than the 15". As soon as you add a dedicated GPU it's not cheaper anymore. It makes the models too close in price and makes no sense. The form factor is only a part of the reason, the price is a massive part of it as well.
