So Best Buy has the rMBP 13" 128 GB for $1399.00 plus the $100 student discount which brings it down to $1299.00.

Apple has the same configuration for $1499.00 plus the student discount which brings it down to $1399.00. In addition, they have the $100 Apple Gift Card promotion.

Which one is the better deal? And, does it make a difference if I buy the notebook from Apple or Best Buy?

Obviously Best Buy in that case because you could spend the saved $100 on iTunes or anything else.

Seems to be the same deal. The advantage with Best Buy is that you may opt for buying from them their extended warranty, which understand offers more protection than the one from Apple (AppleCare), but think is more expensive, though.

Pfft, you guys got it all wrong...

Buy the computer at Best Buy, purchase it with a CC that doubles the manufacturer's warranty, use the $100 in savings to buy more beer, and then illegally download $100 worth of music so you get the best of both worlds. Need I say more?

Well  I don't endorse the illegal download of music, but the use of a credit card to save on the extended warranty is a great idea, as well as the beers!

lol :D:D:D
