I'm pretty sure it's in the firmware and isn't alterable by any means. And if you're planning on replacing the chime with a Marilyn Manson song, then I hope to God it's in the firmware and not alterable.

www.mactracker.ca has the old startup sounds. I am not sure about how or if you can change yours. I'm pretty sure it's not a software-level thing.

haha, thats good. I actually don't find it that bad. However I don't want to be able to notice any changes with the transition. I want to keep the Gs, no intel stickers - actually I don't want to see/hear/smell anything about intel. I am very prejudice when it comes to processors.

lol that's pretty nice. i wish you could change your startup sound like you can under windows, although isn't the new one loaded from Open Firmware as opposed to OS X? I used to have a 1:30 long song as my windows startup sound and the song finished before it finished booting although it was a daaaayyaaaamn slow computer...
