I like the iPod Touch, I was looking for some mods to make it even more like an iPhone.

The touch doesn't have a metal band around it- but I would like to know some cases that might make it look cooler.

I created this case for the iPod Touch, so now it's the normal black on the front, white on the back. What do you think?

Everyone always says Peel and Cookiecase..

While those are two good alternatives, the problem with the Peel is- not only is it expensive, but it makes the iPod Touch look bulky, and is not cosmetically attractive. it actually doesn't look like an iPhone at all.

I used to like the Cookiecase but,

•it has an awkward opening at the bottom
•no apple logo on the back
•the buttons are shaped differently

Also, I bought one of those, the aluminum band gets dull after a few months.

I need something to make the iPod touch look cool. Something to spice it up!

If you only care about making it look cool check out deal extreme. They have lots of really cheap cases so you can use a new one each day.

Put google talk and Skype on it, and an Internet SMS program :p

Or, here's a thought: you want it to look like an iphone. Sell it, and buy an iphone. It's really that simple.

I thought about that. But can you just use Wi-Fi on it and disable the 3G?

All I want is no carriers or service plan.

I don't want the service plan part. Will it work like a Wi-Fi only iPod Touch if I take out the sim or disable the service?

I've heard complaints about that.

I don't know for sure, but I've heard about people who buy an iphone with a bad ESN and just use it as a kicked up ipod touch.

I had an ipod touch, but got rid of it and got a 4S. I love it; suspect you would too, but there is that monthly bill to consider.

You may look in the iphone section, for folks using them with bad ESN's.

I would have an iPhone, but I simply don't need a service plan. I don't talk to anybody.

The iPod touch is Wi-Fi only, but I like the look of the iPhone.

Where would I get the iPhone from? Can't buy it from Apple because I would need to have a carrier, and I won't pay unneccesary fees for starting and ending a contract.

Nor wil I buy an unlocked phone.

On top of all that, I don't know that once I get the phone, if I can just enable wifi and be set.

Do you need a sim card, even for wifi to work ?

I think so.

I seen lots of iPhone 4's on eBay.

That's why I said - look into it; do some research. I know it can be done, but I've never done it.

Yes. I bought a 32GB Verizon iPhone 4 with a bad ESN. It can't have a service plan nor be used by a carrier. It does everything an iPod Touch can do, only better. I bought it (mint, only 4 months old) for $210 on eBay from a reputable seller.

I can use WiFi without cell/3G. I also have a 64GB iPod Touch 4G in a CookieCase. Love both devices, but the iPhone-as-an-iPod-Touch is a terrific option and highly recommend it.

You can buy the iPhone straight from Apple. It's called buying an unlocked model for the full price. That way you can use it without a carrier and if you ever want to use the phone part you just need to sign on to a carrier rather then buying a whole new device.

I went to AT&T today to ask the guy- and that's a lot of money for that thing...... almost as much as an iPad... .....might as well buy it though..

Like I just told someone else, and as someone already told you; just buy an iphone 4 with a bad esn. You can use it as an ipod with no problems. I paid $150 for mine. You may break even or make a profit by selling your ipod touch if you find the right deal. Bad esn iphone 4's are the way to go.

If you're only using it on wi-fi, I'd consider getting the iPad. I know it's less portable, but the screen real estate...

Very simple: use MagicJack App and your touch becomes an iPhone!!

I swear I heard Billy Mayes yelling when I read this post.

What is a bad esn?

Electronic Serial Number. If it's been blacklisted, you can't hook the phone up to a wireless service provider.

Not sure why anyone would suggest seeking this out, since it's a good indication the phone is stolen. Some people just sell their phones when they can't pay off their account balance too, but I'd be wary of it.

It isn't a good indication that it was stolen. Non-payment of a contract, reporting it lost, are just 2 legitimate reasons for a bad esn. You are free to wallow in your ignorance, but spreading that to others needs to be corrected. An iPhone w/bad esn (non-stolen) is a terrific option for those who simply want an iPod Touch with the non-call features of an iPhone.

P.s. it is possible to determine if the esn was reported stolen... Reputable eBay sellers will post the esn so that a buyer can verify that for themselves.
