I figured and iPad charger had more voltage and would charge faster. Is a charger on eBay Gonna be just as good as one from apple

The iPad one still only outputs 5 volts. It does output 2 amps over the iPhone's 1 amp. The iPhone can charge at a maximum draw of 1.5 amps. The typical computer USB port puts out 0.5 amps or 500 milliamps. While the typical Mac made after the introduction of the aluminum iMac can output 900 milliamps when the device is connected directly to the machine.

You need more CURRENT, not VOLTAGE. More voltage will fry the iPhone.

A cheap charger is no more likely to charge faster than the apple supplied one. The Apple iPhone/iPod chargers output 1A at 5v. I think the iPad chargers maybe output a little more, but I don't think it helps speed charging.

No doubt that iPad charger charges my iPhone faster than the included little cube charger. It does not matter to me as I charge my phone over night either get the job done in only an hour or so.

If you were in a hurry the large iPad charge will do it faster. I would beware of the 3rd party chargers, the OEM units can be found at a good price.

You can buy longer USB cords but even they are no all created equal!:apple:

I bought the 10 foot Belkin cord and havent looked back as I can actually do stuff while sitting letting the phone/ipad charge up.

I bought the cheapy 6' cables on ebay, and they're terrible. They dont sync my ipad and charge noticibly slower.

I use my iPad charger+the belkin 10' cable to charge all of my iDevices and it charges my phone substantially faster than the stock iPhone charger.

I've had luck with the "RND" branded extended length cables (been using the 10' of those too, got on amazon for under $20)

What were you using the cables with? Were you connecting to a computer? If so and if the USB port only puts out 500mA that's why charging is slower -- not the cable.

Pay attention to the specs. More current = faster charge (up to the device's limit).

My iPad charger is faster at charging my iphone than the iphone charger. Been doing this for the last 8 months.

Which Belkin sync cables are you guys talking about? I can only find the 6ft cable made by Belkin, which has the older style where i have to pinch the sides. Are you sure it's not the Griffin 10ft sync cable?

Unless its a recent generation mac then it ups it to 1100mA automatically.

An iPad or an iPad charger? I believe the charger is for $30 from Apple (check it) and the iPad is > $499.99 USD.

SOOOOO!
Ya'll say it is safe to use the iPad charger to charge the iPhone. In so saving space while packing and only having to keep up with one charge block.

My charger charges my iPhone from 5-80% in one hour, and then 80-100 in another 45min to hour. Why would you really need it faster?
