As you can see I'm a newbie so please bear with me!

I've tried a forum search to try and get help with a problem I've been encountering, but it feels like I'm hunting for the proverbial needle in the haystack!

Problem : my bluetooth mouse will suddenly disconnect. I don't know why. By repeatedly clicking it or else by holding the click down it does reconnect, but then disconnects again almost immediately after. This can go on repeatedly for minutes at a time and then, as if by magic, it works fine for the rest of the day. I've checked the battery power level and it seems fine and I've not received any low battery warnings anyhow.

I'm sure others have encountered this problem with bluetooth mice disconnecting before and no doubt there are posts on this issue somewhere on MacRumors.

Please can somebody guide to me to where I can find out why this happens, what I'm doing wrong, what I should be doing to resolve this when it occurs and ongoing what I should do to prevent it?

Thank you in advance

Check the batteries. I've been using a Logitech VX470 Bluetooth mouse with my Macbook for close to 4 years now and the only time I ever get drop outs is when the mouse's AA batteries are getting low.

Thank you.

As I said, the battery level appears to be fine, but I'll change them anyway following your advice.

Cheers! :)

I have the same issue when batteries get low as well. The thing is only sometimes does the battery level meter report the level in what I would assume is correct level. I have used the same batteries in my keyboard for months literally and it still reports 100%. The last time I changed the mouse batteries they had been in use for 1.5 months and still were reporting 100% as well. Changed them out and the issue went away.

Thanks, squeakr.

Seems this is the answer. ;)

I was just curious whether this was the apple mouse, or another bluetooth mouse.

It's the Apple mouse supplied with the Mac.

Haven't had a problem with this issue recently.

It certainly seems one shouldn't trust the battery level indicator, when it shows it's good, but yet the mouse keeps disconnecting.

I've learned to go ahead and change the batteries for fresh ones. :)
