Jailbreak has been giving me issues, got tired of random resprings and a battery dying mid-day with 3 hours usage, decided to restore and rejailbreak and start from scratch again. Went to restore from iTunes as new, getting error 21, and now iPhone is stuck on the "Plug into iTunes" screen (recovery screen, I believe?). What do I need to do to get a restored phone? TIA.

Try putting it in pwned-DFU in redsn0w, then restore through itunes.

No luck. iTunes still said it was detecting an iPhone in recovery mode though the usb plug screen isn't showing, and gives error 1600. No modifications were made to baseband so I shouldn't be bricked, but it's odd it's not working.

And now redsn0w is saying unexpected error when trying to enter pwned dfu mode again.

UPDATE: I was able to re-enter pwned-DFU mode but iTunes still detects my iPhone as recovery mode. Any idea why?

UPDATE 2: I can't seem to actually turn my iPhone off while it's plugged into my mac. redsn0w would say it's in DFU mode but like I said, iTunes would say it's in Recovery. I tried the Recovery fix in redsn0w and it gives me the unexpected error message.

UPDATE 3: Got the Recovery fix to work, now have a functioning phone again. So when I go to restore again, what steps should I take to avoid this fiasco again?
