I have upgraded my parents eMac to 2GB memory, and also replaced the non-functioning DVD drive to a DVD burner. Just for references, if anyone has similar interest.

Here are the parts I used:

Kingston KVR400X64C3A/1G - which is a 1GB module, makes the total now the maximum 2 GB :)

Pioneer DVR-106DB - old, but capable DVD burner

It runs Leopard now, and the machine works fairly well, depite its age.

Cheers,

P.

Congrats, great to see someone keeping these old machines running. My 1.42 GHz eMac is still going strong as my personal main machine, I hope that one continues to provide great service for your parents as well. :)

Awesome! Only now am I slowly using the eMac less & less, when I get my G5 I'll be using him for DVD's & music, because the speakers are AMAZING :D
