If the Ipad 3 had no retina?

I know there's like zero chance of it but imagine the shock if it never had retina and it was an Ipad 2 with Siri and HD facetime cameras and A5 processor.

Ipad 2S? :p

Don't think we can handle another industry and public disappointment when the Iphone 5 never appeared and it was an Iphone 4 with a little added on.

One downside to the rumours though. Looks like the new device will look like the Ipad 2 yet Ipad 1 only got one cycle.

Would be quite shocking. I'd wonder what lucky tablet was getting the display MacRumors got and sent to iFixit a few weeks back.

Well don't be too surprised.

They could easily release an Ipad 2S and then Ipad HD later this year along with Ipad mini.

Nobody has thought of that yet have they? :D

Would solve the contradicting rumours about 2S/3/HD.
 
Possible I suppose... though would Siri and a ramped up CPU with a memory boost be enough to persuade folks to upgrade? I think not.

We could see iPad HD -- $499, iPad 2 reduced price to $379. Just my 2cents.
 
From the perspective that this is all just fun and games and none of this actually matters, and within the context of all of the rumors during these past few months and in which Apple has advertised tomorrow's announcement: If the iPad 3 ends up not having a retina display, it would be really really really funny.

Yes.

They could also add Siri to the Ipad 2 to keep it selling.
 
If this was the case, I'm sure we'd see the likes of Mossberg, Dalrymple, and Gruber throwing cold water on the prospects of a retina display

At the time they seemed sure the Ipad 2 would be retina as the Iphone 4 was around.

And to add more speculation the paint image could be just to flog the new Photoshop app on a faster Ipad 2S. :D

That's what happened with the Iphone 4S though.

Everything pointed to the Iphone 5 with a bigger screen and redesign.

What are you talking about? It came with a better camera, Processor, and Siri! haha.

Honestly though, if there isn't a Retina screen on this phone it would be very, very disappointing.
 
Without retina, financial markets collapse, riots in the streets, the world ends.

Did you not read the disappointment at the time..everybody expected the Iphone 5. :eek:

That was just the name, the specs were pretty much as we (or many of us) thought...

- Will be like if iPad 3 is going to be called the iPad HD - But as always I dont care about the name, just want new features! :p

Yes, it was so awful Apple then went on to sell record numbers of iPhone 4S's. :rolleyes:


We forget we're in a microcosm here... :cool: Even the general techie sphere that reads all the blogs and develops an idea of what we anticipate Apple will do is a minority of the target market. Whatever comes out will likely sell pretty well.

As for me? No retina display and not much else? I'll buy a discounted refurb 2 and carry on. All depends on the specifics.

You could always have a doctor surgically remove one of your own retina's and glue it to your screen.
 
What is up with this everybody nonsense? People with a lick of common sense didn't expect the 5 last year. History had shown that apple was going to release an incremental (design-wise) upgrade of the iphone--not a radically redesigned version. If those people read about how apple works on these things up to two years in advance, then they would've known 2011 was the year of the 4S.
Back to topic: unless Mossberg, et al have been dropped from the controlled leaks, I'm going to say we're going to see retina for the ipad. If we don't, you can lambast me for not having a lick of common sense. :p
