Hey guys, I am new to the forums and to Macs in general. I love my Mac, but notice one nice feature is missing that Windows/PCs have. How do you put the Mac into hybernation mode? I am not referring to sleep when you can just close the lid and the light pulsates. I am referring to like in Windows when you can save your current session to disk and power off the laptop completely (like if I needed to take a long flight or something, or knew I would be using my laptop in a few days to resume work, and didn't want to leave the laptop alseep for that long)---then when you turn it back on, Windows (or in this case, OS X) would resume and pick up exactly where you left off.

Any help? Thanks

the Air can do it i think because of the SSD, not sure

but the sleep is pretty good, you lose about 1% per hour

There are a number of third party utilities that can be used to force your Mac to enter "safe sleep" mode, which is the equivalent of hibernate. I don't use any so I won't make any recommendations.

Yea, I have tried that, and it's so cool and much faster to wake than sleep on a PC...but surely there HAS TO be a way to hybernate the Macs; it's so convenient on my Windows laptop. Maybe it's not called "hybernate", maybe Apple uses a different term/methodology?
