Mines in a case but I can clearly feel that it gets warmer than my iPad 2 did.

The iPad is certainly no longer just a tablet or a mobile device. It's not effectively a laptop without a physical keyboard. The weight is more, heat is higher, screen awesome and battery size hefty.

But the heat is a non-issue for me given that its in a case.

So far I've only felt it get hot once, while playing modern combat at the same time downloading various apps so i guess thats expected, but i guess I'm use to it from the iPhone.

I have the Wi-Fi only version and after spending 45 minutes on a FaceTime call mine was noticeably hot even through the case. Doesn't bother me though. Situations like that should not happen often enough to make it a problem.

Crazy Engineers

 The new iPad is a Microwave, and your hands are the meal! Remember this is the same company that put the antenna where you could touch it and interfere with the signal. I am sure customer safety is right up there with worker safety.

My hands are really sore already... of course it could be the crutches I have been using all day and not the iPad.
