Because of the graininess. Im guessing you shot this on film. Maybe try shooting with a less contrasty film and then add the contrast precisely where you need it after in Photoshop. It really bugs me that the main picture is blown out.

On the money! Well Done :)

You get how B+W work. Im so envious of you

Sorry man, you're not supposed to comment until the competition has finished!
Might sway the vote like.....

3rd: VI TM
2nd: HNR2Web
1st: Razeus

Nicolasdec: Interesting of how lighting can change the shape of a shadow.

acearchie: Nice silhouette of your friend. I like the bit of orange light on the right side of her face.

nicque: Nice use of the shadow on the ground to show the other person. The girl is mostly hidden by him but the shadow shows differently.

HNR2Web: I love this photo and I love ferris wheels. The sky looks great and the ferris wheel being empty is awesome.

milbournosphere: The silhouette of a tree in the sky allows us to take note of the shape. The sky behind it has a very nice gradient.

cupcakes2000: Nice use of diagonal lines that sorta lead the way up the stairs.

pakyooh: I really liked this one, almost felt like an advertisement. The room is nicely balanced and I like the silhouette people in the doorway.

ToddSD: I'm assuming this is a church or part of a church. The architecture is a church is astounding. Not sure if that is a slight reflection from something or my screen but I do notice a small amount of color a little left of center.

Razeus: Love this photo, well balanced and nice contrast of light...

coryndiego: Jealous of everyone who got to see the eclipse. I couldn't see it from Ohio, but people did get amazing photos of it.

Sorry, I know I didn't cover everyone's photos, but ill add more tonight. And trust me, I know my comments are nothing to write home about

Congrats VI TM, HNR2Web and Razeus!

No, 5dmii processed in LR3. I do want to try out film though but still have a lot to learn. The processing isn't for everyone but I've been drawn to it lately. I agree with the main artwork being blown out and distracting but I was shooting for the "moment". In the ones with the correct exposure, it had more people blocking the image and didn't have the couple walking into the room.

Thanks!
