The ipad is otherwise just fine, it's just this bump and the rest 3/4 of the frame are intact with the plastic on (those things are pretty robust btw, cause it was flung to the ground after argument with girlfriend and flung with vengeance)

Should I go with apple (apple authorized repair to be exact) or go for a third party in terms of cost and quality? Thanks guys.

I'd call Apple or a local Apple re-seller and ask how much.

Me personally, if it still works OK then i'd live with it, put some tape on the outer edge of the case and buy a Folio case, problem solved. Take the money you'd spend on the repair and put it towards a new iPad.

Back housing from a third party would be around $170 not including shipping and any other internal parts that might be damaged.

I would see if Apple would replace it with another one that you know is working and under warranty for a similar price.

Kids, porn is something you hide from your moms, in relationships there are actually important things that people argue about.

Sadly, I think the problem with the front panel is becoming progressively worse as the thing's lost its integrity. :)

Wow that expensive? I ll get in touch with apple first and see what happens...

Anyone here fixed their ipad via a third party repair team and have any experience if they did a good job or not?

I must be lucky.

It's been three weeks of daily fun using mine as a frisbee. But then again I have a nice soft lawn.

Perhaps I should stop tossing it through the air while I'm still ahead?

Who said iPads aren't durable :)

lol, quit while you are ahead! Wooden floor did it for me at the end, should have been arguing in the back garden instead!

This is why you want a good protective case that covers all four sides and corners well in the first place. But you could still get one now, and not notice the dent.

My last argument went something like this..

Girlfriend: blah blah blah
Me: Hahah your crazy woman!
*Girlfriend picks up Macbook Pro, ready to throw it*
Me: Your right, I am wrong.. Everything you said is right, I feel terrible!

I return triumphant...the solution to a man's problems (and may this be a lesson to the virgins here) is only a hammer away boys (well and some glue). Fixed the mf, and from the front it looks almost as good as new.

Lesson learned though, next time I m getting a new gf so I don't have to get a new ipad. :)

I ll maybe post some pics later...got to run now, have a great job post I need to apply for, with a great salary and humane working conditions (including a great bonus package: suicide safety nets), you guessed it, it's at my local foxconn factory.

Good job, now go buy yourself a good folio case and you'll forget it ever happened.

EDIT: Don't forget that in the Foxconn factory, workers don't toss their iPads, they toss themselves. :D
