There & Back Again
Hey everyone, so currently I'm trying to see if I can pull this off.

I have a 2011 15" MBP
24" ACD
30" old school ACD

I am having issues getting this working right of course.

I can't plug the 30" into my laptop and have the 24" run from that as of course there is no Display Port out from the 24".

I bought a USB video adapter (HIS Multiview 2) and ran that from the 24" to the 30", but without using my Dual Link DVI adapter the max resolution I can get is 1200x800 on the 30". Seriously gross.

So now I feel stuck. Love the 24", love that it has the magsafe too. Love the 30" (just got it). But I feel like I've run out of solutions and money.

Wish I had a 27" Thunderbolt display!

I'm totally willing to hear suggestions.

Here is a photo.

Upside down. Great.

Whoa. I always knew that Australia was upside down from the U.S., but I didn't realize it was literal!

Sorry, I can't help you figure out your problem.

I'd sell the 24 to get a TB personally...unless you're actually considering buying a rMBP just to get it to work easily:p

Nice!

Yeah I had thought about it - I'm trying to sell the 30" I think and get a 27" with the money...

So I brought home an Apple TB display to plug the 30" into with the display port adapter on it. No dice.

I tried to plug my 24" into the back of the TB display, no dice.

Then I read this, namely the last few paragraphs: http://www.macnn.com/articles/11/09/16/macbook.air.restricted.to.single.monitor/

So mad! Does anyone have any suggestions? Cheap ones?

Some product called a Diamond BVU-195 lets you connect old dvi based monitors to usb. I use one with my MBP 2010: works well but has some mouse/video lag.
