iMac Thunderbolt Crucial M4 SSD Boot - Pics

So i took the plunge and decided to go ahead with the Thunderbolt SSD boot.

Getting around 200Mbp's write and around 360Mb's read.

The difference is like night and day though, 15 seconds for a full boot.

Just a couple of pics to show you what it looks like.

Would definately recommend doing it if you want the iMac to be a bit "nippier"

Excluding the SSD is already had it, the setup cost me around £150 which is a lot cheaper than the £480 for one fitted from standard.

Nice setup - thats the exact setup I need, can you let me know the component parts?
 
You need a Seagate Goflex Thunderbolt Adaptor, Thunderbolt Cable, a Seagate external Sata 2.5" HD enclosure available here http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=180903608591, an SSD of your choice and a piece of Velcro to attach the assembled unit to the leg of the iMac.

You won't get full SataIII speeds out of this setup, but you will get speeds somewhere between SataII and SataIII. Using Blackmagic I get speeds of 306MB/s Write and 361MB/s Read with a Samsung 830 128gb ssd.

My iMac I7 3.4ghz loads in just under 30 seconds from pressing the power button and that includes typing in the password. Opening applications is now lighting fast.

I think this is what I am going to buy. I am going to wait until the holiday season, though, to see what kind of deals I can get. I have used my iMac the way it is for over a year, so a few more months won't kill me. :)
