My only serious problem for 13+ years using a Mac is when switching between apps, the input language gets carried over from one to another. Writing in Bulgarian in Notes, switching to Safari inspector, still in Bulgarian, making errors, switching back to English, writing commands again. Spotlight doesn't start in default language (English) and it's hard to use it as an app launcher. There is an option in System Preferences related to this, but it doesn't really work. I filed countless bugs with Apple, contacted Craig Federighi a few times, no luck.

Any developers out there who can write an app to respect reach app's input language on app switch?

Thanks!

If its up to the app developers to respect the setting, how is it a bug within macOS?

It appears that the apps referred to are all Apple apps that come bundled with macOS (Safari, TextEdit, Notes, Terminal), unless I'm missing something.

It seems the OS doesn't bother to remember and change the correct input language upon app switch. And also enforce default English language on newly started apps. Why should we expect an app to do anything related to input language when receiving focus?

Edit: by my last original line, I meant a developer writing an app which listens to app switch actions and fixes the problem for all apps, because AAPL wouldn't fix it.

Isn't the input module in macOS still Carbon and untouched for a very long time?
