I think what makes it difficult to tell is that the count you guys are referring to from the forum page seems not to include deleted posts.

I'm a bit surprised that we've only deleted 400Kish posts. :p

If people Googled and searched the forums before posting, we'd only have eight million posts.

There's nothing wrong with new people asking the same question many of us have seen many times. This is a big site and to most people, it's overwhelming. They may not notice or understand how to use the search function, or may not be computer savvy at all and not know about Google.

That's where many of our members step up and help those folks out with their questions and refrain from berating them for not using Google first.

Never said there was anything wrong with it.

There's a difference between berating them (which some people certainly have done, and still do, unfortunately) and "teaching a man to fish," which people really should do more often. But of course that take much more time than either berating them or just answering the question.

There are a lot of posts in this thread worthy of being deleted. Not yours, of course, or mine. ;)

I remember when we hit the millionth post, way back when. I think my avatar came from the 2 millionth post if I remember correctly.

good job to whomever, seems like that post linked as the 14000000th is deleted
