It’s been advertised everywhere that the new MacBook Pro’s can reach 1000nits of brightness and a peak of 1600 in HDR content. I’ve seen some videos and reviews saying it’s only reaching 450-500 nits even during HDR content. Anyone who has it, is the brightness as good as you hoped and can it really achieve what it’s advertised for? Thanks

Measurements for the 16" also have it just a little over 500 nits. I expect this means Apple's claims are about local brightness, i.e. individual LEDs or clusters, not overall screen brightness.

It may also be that the measurements would increase some (though not that much) if don't out in the sun, where the screen probably brightens more automatically. One reviewer said he was using it out in bright direct sun with no problem.
