Yesterday I noticed my power cord from the brick to the computer (plugged in) was really hot. Almost too hot to hold before burning yourself. I examined it for about 5 minutes in disbeleif wondering if it was supposed to get that hot, then I realized the light on the cord at the MagSafe wasn't illuminated. So I unplugged it and plugged it back on and it hasn't worked at all since, nor did it get hot again either.

Anyone else have a problem with their cord? Glad it didnt burn my house down or something. I wonder if it would have just kept getting hotter if I wasn't sitting here and unplugged it earn I noticed it.

Did something get caught in between the charging cable and the MagSafe port?

Oh wow! There is something seriously wrong! That shouldn’t happen…

Did your charging combo work before? Or was it the first charging attempt?

Not that I know of. It all looks fine and brand new when I was inspecting it.

it worked fine since I started using the computer on Tuesday. Just happened last night after a few days of using it. :-(

Apple chat support insisted the cord was defective and wanted me to send my entire computer back to apple. Or bring it down to an apple store, which the only one with an open appointment in the next few days is out of state..... So I argued with them until they agreed to send me a new cord, but they made me pay a deposit until I send the old cord back.... I thought that was sort of petty after spending this much money.

Just looked at the email I got this afternoon saying the cord shipped and it was a USB-C to USB-C charging cable they sent me.

So they made me pay a deposit for the second cable (USB-C to Magsafe3). And I get to return two cables now.

Getting really irritated with apple. Would of been nice if their customer support could identify what kind of cord their brand new computers use.
