I have the 14" MBP (base model with 1TB disk), HP ZR2424w monitor (1920x1200), and a Warrky DisplayPort to USB-C cable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RY75V7Q?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2_dt_b_product_details).
If the display cord has been unplugged, sometimes I can only get the MBP to recognize the monitor after the cable has been plugged in again by restarting the MBP. This seems to happen if the machine has been unplugged for a while. If I'm using it, unplug the cable, then plug it back in, it works. Or put it to sleep, wait a few minutes, plug it back in, it works.
What gives? Is it the MBP? The cable?
Ahh, did another test. If everything is connected, 2nd monitor displaying fine, I unplug power cable. 2nd monitor still on because main display is open. But then I disconnect usb-c, and reconnect it, nothing happens. MBP can't find 2nd monitor. But then if I plug power back, nothing happens. Then disconnect usb-c and reconnect and now it sees the 2nd monitor.
So it seems like if I disconnect power to walk away with the laptop, when coming back to 2nd monitor I'll most likely have to restart it to see the monitor again. Anybody else have issues like that?
