I have an iPhone 12 Pro. I live in a warm country. I have no complaints about my phone except this : it feels warm after use.

When the phone is idle, it is fine. If I use it for a few minutes - answering a few messages, playing a few shots of pool, clicking a few photos, checking emails, the phone feels warm afterwards. If I record a few minutes of 4K video, the phone feels uncomfortably hot.

I hate putting the phone in my pocket and feeling the warmth from it.

Do the newer iPhones run cooler?

My regular 12 ran very hot if I was browsing Reddit, macrumours, playing a game etc. so far my 14 pro doesn’t run hot at all even when playing some intensive games.

I hope it runs cooler. My 12 pro runs very hot. I also use waze while driving and it charges wirelessly in my car, and I've found it freezes after a half hour due to high temperature preventing me from controlling music or anything else.

I used to live/work in Kuwait and all my phones used to get hot whenever I got out, but I never had any issues.

Idk if it’s normal but my 14 pro max definitely runs hotter than my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

That’s encouraging.

Yes, wireless charging does heat up the phone something severe

I don’t have “issues” with the phone as such, is just that I hate the feeling of a warm phone in my hands or in my pocket.

Well, so much for a cooler phone

Apple keeps making these super powerful phones that run HOT. I always hate it when my screen dims because the GPS is making the phone too hot.

Heck not even GPS. You go to places like amusement parks where it revolves around apps, and the screen throttles in 0.000001s in the sun. Which is pretty much the only place 2k nits would be needed

My 11 Pro kept quite cool, but the 13 Pro was a mess in that regard.

My 14 Pro even stays cooler than my 11 Pro.

Yeah I’ll also support the claims: my 14 pro is surprisingly cool. The only times it’s gotten even the slightest bit warm is charging on the 20w Apple charger, and (surprise surprise!) outside in the heat and looking at the 2000 nit screen where it had to dim the screen.

Other than that, I’m am so very happy with the thermal heat dissipation on the 14 pro.

And coming from the “oven in your pocket” 13mini, it’s a genuine pleasant surprise.

My wife’s iPhone 13 runs surprisingly cool, too. Or maybe it only feels that way because she has a silicone case and mine is leather.

I use my 14 pro without a case, it feels warmer and stays that way for longer than my 12 pro. However, it does not dim the display as often as earlier. There’s increased insulation for the screen, if not better thermals outright.
