I’ve been on YouTube a little over an hour watching a live stream on a channel I follow . Just over an hour in from a fully charged phone and it’s less than less than 90 percent left. Is this normal with iOS 16.3 or is just YouTube an insane battery hog? This was on WiFi as well. Thank you for any input. Just thought it might be a little odd..

1 hour of YouTube pretty much uses up about 10% of battery, that sounds correct. You won't get more than 10 hours of live video watching on a 14 Pro Max.

additionally live streaming uses more bandwidth/data especially if the quality is higher.

In your mind how many hours should your iPhone hold out streaming youtube.

When I stream via data I'd drop resolution to 240p to reduce power and bandwidth load.

If possible I'd have love YouTube to have an audio-only options for when I want to treat it like an audiobook or talk radio of Ted talks.

I don’t stream , I’m watching a stream . Big difference on battery consumption …

Watching streaming , I’m not the live steamer lol. But yes any high resolution will take more data and bandwidth . I’m talking battery here.
