I'm a older guy and ver simple and trying to stay off the phone (cough reddit) and get more active.

No AI, and lightning...

do you think this is better than buying a 16E?

I can get a second hand one off swappa for around 450 (256 gig) but I need a battery.

If u don’t want lightning then you have to go 15 or 16.

For 50 more i would buy the 16e if you don’t want the more advanced camera system

I got lightning cables and I got the old lightning cable apple earbuds

Just want to know how long it was be updated and possibly last and is it more durable than the new ones?

Not more or less durable (same really), it'll probably get another 4-5 years of updates. I didn't have any notable issues with mine for the time I had it, I just wanted to move up to the Max so I upgraded rather than go for a third year.

The repair is way more expensive on the 13-14 while the 15-16 seem less durable.

Unless you want the better camera of Pro model I would go with the 16e. It’s a newer device meaning it’ll receive updates longer and will work smoothly longer because of a more powerful processor.

Anything used is always a gamble. You buy the swappa phone and oh what’s this notification?.. Not a genuine apple battery? Oh no, why is it saying I’m at 1% when I just took it off the charger? I have a friend that just bought a phone like that.

That's a great point, battery 82% also but 256 for 450 with no scratches on the screen.

I don't like the 16E the brightness is too low.

Well, at least 82% means it’s a genuine battery so that’s a plus. It’s likely you’re going to need or have it replaced so if you have access to an Apple Store nearby, that’s not a big problem. It’s relatively cheap.

Are you using the phone a lot in direct sunlight? If that’s one thing that’s really important then go with the 14 Pro then get the battery replaced once it hits 80%.

It's completely authentic, nothing fake about it on swappa everything is there.

I do think the 14 Pro is a good alternative to both the regular 15 and the 16e. 15 Pro is great if you can swing it, that's what I have and I'm happy with it.

I certainly do not consider "the 15-16 seem less durable." But I have only owned the pro models since they have been an option. IMO the iPhone 16 PM is the toughest one yet. I have dropped it on concrete more times than I can count.

The 14 Pro has a battery issue where it often degrades quickly. If the brightness is important to you then the iPhone 15 gets just as bright as any recent pro model.
