Based on rumors, do you think the new 14" screen will be available on Air models as well? Or only Macbook Pro models?

Main use case for me is that my mom needs an affordable macbook, but is older and not the best vision, so a bigger screen would be nicer. She doesn't need much performance, ports, graphics, etc, but Apple continues to keep large screens unaffordable.

The cheapest intel 16" mbp with 1tb of storage is $2379 on the apple edu store. Ouch. 15-16" PC laptops can be had for half that price.

There's no doubt that the 13.3" mb air and mbp models are an incredible value now, but I wish Apple wouldn't segment so strongly on screen size alone. The rumor of the 15" air that they nixed would have been perfect. (and also makes me believe they won't release a 14" air).

It will probably be only offered on the MBP, unless Apple decides to offer a pro model MBA which would be a first. I don't see that happening.
Ya, I unfortunately agree - that's my guess as well. Maybe crossing fingers that the base MBP 14 will be affordable and have at least 16gb of ram.

Hey Apple, if you're listening, go ahead and drop that touchbar and save us the $20-$50 of parts cost or whatever.

Maybe the base 14" (if true) will be around the $1200 - $1300 mark.

The redesign rumours we had were for a smaller chassis and still a 13" display, I agree it's a shame the 15" Air isn't going ahead ☹️. Maybe they will give the $1,299 2-port MacBook Pro the size bump to 14", I guess that's not a million miles from a 14" Air.

Possible but unlikely. EDU prices with 16gb now for the cheaper 13 pro:

256b: $1379
512gb: $1579
1tb: $1759

Really will need at least 512gb for photo storage, but you can see how quickly the prices creep up here.

Prediction: chassis stays same. 13.3 becomes 13.7 no Bezels. They call it a 14. Only available on the more expensive Pros.

Maybe they will be “courageous” enough to add MagSafe and SD slot but will remove headphone and one USB-c port. Apple will never give you EXACTLY what you want. 😂

Seems somewhat reasonable, though the webcam issue is still there. Agree though that for the most part the unibody design is classic and doesn't need to change yet. The stable feeling is SO good.

Your mothers vision shouldn’t have an impact on what size screen you buy. The font size is very similar on all the available screen sizes, and there are ways to make the font bigger anyways. A larger screen allows for more information on the screen. It’s not an indicator of larger font.

I understand that you can adjust font and resolution.

Larger screens are still better for full-screen picture viewing though, and at the same resolution provide larger text.
