I have a rMBP on the way and am now trying to decide from these two choices on what I should get with the rest of my budget for my equipment. I currently have an early 2008 MPB.

Option 1:

-27" Thunder bolt display - $939
-External Hard Drive - $200
-240 GB SSD (for my 2008 MPB) - $199.95
-Replacement Battery (2008 MPB) - $114.50

Total for option 1: $1453.95

Option 2:

- refurbished 27" iMac (I can also use as an external monitor for my rMBP) $1598
-External Hard Drive - $200
-I can sell my 2008 MBP and put it towards these purchases.

Total for option 2: $1798.00* (Can be cheaper depending on what my MBP sells for)

These prices were taken from BH Photo so no tax needs to be included.

Yes I know 2 working back and forth with two computers isn't ideal, but for spending almost the same money with option 1, option 2 gives me a 27" external screen and a computer as well.
