Hello, I have an iPhone 4 currently at Version 4.3.3 and firmware 4.10.01.

I want to update it to iOS 5, but, I am wondering which one will be better, 5.0.1 or 5.1.1?

Also, can someone give me step by step directions on how to upgrade to iOS 5, please.

I am wishing to unlock the iPhone 4 for T-Mobile. I already have an Gevey SIM that works for the current version and firmware my iPhone is currently on. Will updating the version affect the Gevey SIM in anyway?

Thank you. Much appreciated.

You can only go to 5,0,1 if you saved the 5.0.1 hash and APTicket files.
That might make your choice easier.

Sorry, I'm not really aware of the terms with iPhone stuff.
May you tell me the steps to do what you said, please?

Are you jailbroken at the moment?

If so open cydia, at the main page it gives tou which SHSH's are available.
If 5.01 is in that list you might be abel to upgrade to 5.01.

I would go for 5.1.1

You do need to preserve your current BaseBand to be able to use you Gevey on 5.1.1 ( also for 5.0.1 btw).

Google on it first and try iclarified.com for turorials

My iPhone is jailbroken. Well, so, I think. I have installous from Cydia, but I cannot find Cydia anywhere on my phone. It disappeared.

Something is all kinds of messed up. Just do a restore with a No_BB IPSW made in RedSn0w as stated above (instructions at iClarified.com under Tutorials > iPhone > Jailbreak). PM me if you need help.

Also - Installous is used to pirate apps that developers should be paid for. It's ethically wrong, and we don't talk about it here (sounds like you may not have known, but just in case, thought I'd point it out as that's a good way to get your thread locked and leave yourself without any help).
