I have a Sapphire Radeon HD 7950 "Dual Boost" GPU with a flashed ROM. Since this a dual BIOS card, it also has a PC ROM onboard. I have it attached to a Lenovo L24-10q via HDMI, a 24" IPS monitor that supports resolutions up to 2560x1440.
When I boot with the Mac ROM, I get the boot screen and can select my OS. However, once I get to the desktop I cannot select 1440p, only up to 1080p. However, if I boot with PC ROM I of course lose the boot screen, but I can then set the resolution to 1440p. Pretty bizarre situation.
Anybody know why this might be? If I really need to boot selector, I can just shutdown and push the BIOS switch, but it's still annoying.
EDIT: Stray thought - perhaps the old Mac ROM doesn't support HDMI 1.4 or whatever?
