Hi- I just upgraded to a 2Ghz G5 and before I set it up I am wondering if I should partition the 160GB HD?

I mostly use the computer for retouching photos in photoshop and some video editing in imovie. I noticed at work that we often have a separate partition for applications, one for data, and one for a scratch disk.

Is this a good idea and if so how much space should be dedicated to each. Also how do I designate a partition specifically for a scratch disk?

Thanks for any help you can provide.

Duff-Man says....for 99% of people partitioning is *not* necessary. From what you say, "some photo editing" and "iMovie editing" (which tells me its probaly more "home" use than pro) than I would guess that for you it is not really required....also - you may want to search the forums - there have been a *lot* of threads about partitioning in the past....oh yeah!
