So ive got my ipad checked under the settings to sync over wifi but for some reason it isnt working and showing up in my itunes

Is there anything I need to check for that might be the problem?

I had the same problem recently. Try to go to Settings, Generall and find there iTunes Wi-Fi Sync, click on it and try to sync it manually for the first time. I did this and now my macbook has no problem to sync automatically via wifi ;)

as a FYI, the iOS device must be plugged in to the charge to sync over wifi.

i have never been able to get my iPad 2 or iPhone 4S to sync with iTunes unless it was plugged into the charger

I have the same problem with the iPad, the iPhone works without problems.

In the past I had a similar problem with the iPhone, I unchecked the wifi sync, disconnected the iPhone, reconnected, checked the wifi sync option and since then it works fine.
