The lte network is alright and nothing fancy around 20mbps and 7mbps down. The LTE NETWORK IS NON EXISTANT RIGHT NOW. YOU WILL FALL BACK ON THE PATETHIC 3g.

Oh so now you tell me that when LTE is launched all will be gravy right. Text messages being delayed along with crap 3g due to a network loaded down with metropcs, cricket, virgin mobile, boost, and their own subscribers all using sprints towers. Oh did i forget CLEAR broadband.
Now guess what DAN HESSE PLANS TO DO WHEN LTE IS OFFICALLY LAUNCHED IN ALL MARKETS.....RAISE THE ROOF SON.

The company lags Verizon Wireless and AT&T in building out the high-speed network, something that could limit its attraction to customers.
"We have a competitive disadvantage in terms of LTE footprint," Hesse said. "You don't increase your price when you have a network footprint disadvantage. You want to wait and think of that until you get to that point."

Sad to believe I use to work for them and then they went down hill and sold their soul for $$$$. Jumped out of 3 contracts only 3 months after signing up due to a technicality and received 3 iphone 4s unlocked via gevey sim for $150 each. Promised to share my experience and 183 pages of experience by other subscribers who are currently suffering. I suffered for 3 months and it was horrifying how much I sent them. I send a fraction of the $$$ now and get QUADRUPLE THE SPEEDS. Also with my work discount AT&T and Sprint come out the exact same in the end.
BAMMMMM..... What did I tell you 20mbps down and 7 up. RIGHT ON THE MONEY. Now ready for this. Enjoy the LTE for now but once everyone is signed up and using it along with broadband users and MVNO imagine your speeds. I plan to signup for a broadband LTE through CLEAR or SPRINT and hope to tear up the line with overnight newsgroup download. Now imagine if I am doing that on a unlimited line. You bet your A$$... I plan too. I am making a LTE hotspot in my house to link up to my DDWRT router and turn that wireless signal into a hardwire into a DLINK N extreme router. Thanks to sprint Unlimted I plan to hit 200gb in download a month and want to see how long before they kick me out. Now multiply me TIMES 10 million and all of us plan to attack your network in the coming months once upgrades are elegible.
I urge everyone to sign up using TIM MCGUIRE employee discount and setting up a HOTSPOT in your house for 20mbps down and 7mbps up. I am cancelling my AT*T u verse and switching over to sprint LTE for my house internet, streaming, porn, newsgroups, torrents and itunes uploading 1million terabytes.
THANK THE LORD FOR LTE VIA SPRINT WITH UNLIMITED. Time to abuse the system and once they jack up the rates with NATIONWIDE NETWORK VISION...peace out

THOSE ARE SPRINT 3g SPEEDS. You will fall back on 3g when you travel or get outside of LTE Spectrum range. Edge speeds are probably better than what sprint can get you. The sprint network between 7am-10pm is loaded down heavy and you get nothing but page timeouts, slow download, unable to stream, spinning wheel. Go in store and look at a iphone 4s that is activated and use it for speedtest, youtube, and downloading songs or apps. Let me know how the experience goes. I was forcing my self to use wifi on sprint and was wondering what they he*ll i was paying money everymonth to only get minutes and text along with non existant internet.
Using GSM T-mobile on sprint is tricky. You will need an unlocked sprint phone or for iphone you will need iphone 4s with gevey sim on 5.1 or below and it is ideal to be on 5.0.1 or below for all MMS, text and video to work.
3G speeds in the Tampa area are pretty lame. Barely 1-1.5mbps down... anxiously awaiting the rollout of LTE.
pretty sure that little thing in the top left signifies WIFI. Get off wifi and run a test.
Agree with second poster....I switched from ATT to Sprint due to monthly throttling of my "unlimited plan" I'm happy so far with the LTE network. Can't speak to 3G though...haven't seen my phone switch to 3G since I got it launch day. It depends on your situation....I switched because I knew I had LTE where I lived. Talk to other friends that have experience in your area with Sprint (friends, family, co-workers) and make the decision that way.

I guess the blaringly bright label saying cellular doesn't mean anything to you.
I have noticed couple times that data would hang like their is a lag on ping. Once I did a quick airplane cycle and let it sit disconnected from the tower for 1 minute and reconnect everything was reset and back to normal. I will have to investigate why it seems like the connection on the data side is dropping a connection.
Its not like it is intermittent and dropping during transfer. It will be fine for 5 days and then 1 day it will pause and nothing. Then you cycle airplane mode and it is fine. I guess if I reboot my phone every once in a while it would take care of it but airplane cycle is easier and takes 1 min.
I had this issue with Sprint and AT*T that data would have poor connection but a power cycle or airplane mode would make a new connection to the tower and have better performance. Now when the tower is junk to begin with and loaded down does not matter how many power cycles you do you will not hit 6.99mbps.
I thought it showed that no matter what. I was just going by what his actual signal said. I guess he ran that test at a different time.
edit: Yeah, it says 7 days ago in the bottom left. I guess if you are on LTE you are good, but if you are not in an LTE area the speeds blow.
Sprint is the bargain basement wireless carrier of the "big three". If I shop at a bargain basement store, I expect low prices and largely questionable quality. Low prices almost always come with a catch.
In Sprint's case, the catch is two-fold. Their network isn't in a lot of places "off the beaten path" where AT&T's and Verizon's networks are. I've also seen several posts from people who note that Sprint's signal doesn't seem to be able to penetrate big buildings the same way Verizon and AT&T's signals can. These two things seem to contribute to the increased number of dropped calls some people experience with Sprint.
Secondly, if you are in an area where you do have Sprint service, their speeds (even on LTE) are typically slower than what AT&T and Verizon customers are currently getting. Sure, it's unlimited; but how much is your time worth as you're waiting for your unlimited data to materialize on your iPhone?
As long as you realize those things going in and you're ok with them, you'll probably do alright with Sprint.

I really don't get what happened to Sprint. They used to be a top dog carrier, first with a camera phone in the US, first with MMS, first with Mobile TV service and so on. I am a Sprint customer now, and am satisfied but seeing all of these speed issues etc that others are having, just leads me to wonder how a company can head downhill so fast?

Well that was 10 years ago, a lot has happened since then. iPhone was not even released yet. People were using phones for voice only for the most part.
They recently lost because they didnt see iPhone as becoming as big as it has become, they bet on Wimax 4G and HTC Evo's. When they realized their error Sprint begged Apple for iPhone which they accepted terms to $15 billion paid to Apple over 4 years. Then the standard became 4G LTE, Wimax standard died overnight. Sprint is now left with little cash to expand their network to accomodate LTE based phones. Thus the death spiral Sprint is left in.
