Sprint usually doesn't charge a deposit. They put you on a certain restriction where your service is cut off once your bill reaches a certain amount, usually around double your monthly bill. They also charge you $5 for the pleasure.

Verizon and AT&T will charge deposits. It's not just the score but also why it's that low. If you have a previous cell phone collection you can count on a huge deposit.
 
In the past five years every time I went verizon they wanted a five hundred dollar deposit. I even tried at the beginning of the year. Just on a hunch I went the night before the iPhone five launch just to see I was getting two 4s they approved me for a five account line. I think they are relaxing the credit check because my nephew has bad credit and had been told by Verizon a five hundred dollar deposit was needed also. They approve him recently for a five line account with no deposit.
