I want to transfer responsibility of my old att account with unlimited data. Dont want to sell it, just give it away...Where can i do this?

If you do the transfer of responsibility on AT&T I was told by various reps that you end up losing the unlimited data, since you will have to sign up for a new contract.

Wow I see people paying big bucks for Verizon accounts on eBay! Are they really allowed to keep unlimited data?

So the accounts on eBay going for $400+ isn't that much? Hmmm interesting.

Considering if you use 3-4+ Gb each month for a year, it actually pays for itself.

There's a reason the carriers don't want you to have these plans.

Not really looking to sell it. Just transfer responsibility. I've been paying 10 dollars a month for years just to have it on hold. It was a relatives line that couldn't pay and it still has almost 2 years left on the contract

I was tempted to buy a Verizon contract since Sprint LTE is pretty much nonexistent in Dallas but the fine print says "You may have to switch to current Verizon promotions and plans." So much for that.

I was one of those users who bought them on eBay. I paid $250 for the line, but have already used 10gb in a week :D worth the money for me. And yes you CAN keep the unlimited data

You are correct. I just got off the phone with AT&T and it seems you can't carry over any grandfathered plans. Bummer...I'm just gonna pay the ETF I'm tired of paying that 10 a month.

This is untrue, if you do a TOBR in a COR location, you can keep grandfathered plans....

Depending on the cost of the ETF and the time left on the contract, it may be cheaper to just let it run out.

It sucks, I would know. I'm in a family plan right now with my parents, and sometimes both of them can't agree on who should pay the bill and so at some point, they don't pay it for a month or two and AT&T threatens to cut our service. They unfortunately do not care, but I do. I always pay my part of the bill on time, and unfortunately AT&T can't just cut the two lines that aren't paying.

So I wanted to get out of that family plan and keep my unlimited data. Every single rep told me that there was no way for me to do that. There's nothing I can do at the moment.

Are they really? Well, I guess my instinct is wrong then. Not sure what the big deal is for a plan you can't tether off of (you'll get kicked off) but w/e. I'm very happy that I got grandfathered into the 2GB plan, I can tether all I want and AT&T doesn't seem to care. They probably just like their $10 when I tether really hard.

This thread is making me sad because I KNOW FOR A FACT it CAN be done :( grandfathered features can carry over during a TOBR, rate plans cannot. Unlimited data is a feature.

If true, you need to give a bit more details. I have talked to various reps about this, and they all told me that it's not possible. When you transfer the responsiblity to someone else, you drop everything, rate plans and features and the new person needs to sign up with a new rate plan and features. That's what I was told and I also remember it reading on a guide somewhere and even on one of AT&T's tutorials.

But if you managed to pull it off, post some details! :D

Same here. I've talked to 3 reps and even a manager. Seems to be a no go on this.
