I'd like to pre-buy my RAM for the 27" iMac that I'll be ordering (hopefully) soon. It would be nice to have the RAM in my hands when I get the iMac.

From the Apple website, it says 1600MHz DDR3 so this should work, right?

http://www.amazon.com/Kingston-ValueRAM-PC3-12800-Notebook-KVR16S11/dp/B0089JIDUI/ref=lh_ni_t

I'll order my iMac with the minimum around of RAM (2 x 4GB for 8GB total) and then I'll pull those out and put in 4 x 8GB of this RAM for 32GB total. $144 plus shipping. Pretty good deal.

Just wanted to run it by everyone to make sure this RAM will work fine. One of the reviews on Amazon says they used this RAM in a late 2012 Mac Mini and it works. So presumably, it will also work fine in the late 2012 iMac.

You're taking a risk, since Apple has NOT release detailed specifications for the memory the 2012 iMacs will use. Compare the info you found for the 2012 systems to the details they specify for the older (already released) iMacs:

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3011

http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4621

You can wait for the new iMacs to be released, for Apple to publish detailed memory specs, and for a few vendors to test their memory and and advertise that it is compatible with the exact system you want. That will take a few days I guess. Or you can buy now and accept the risk.

Great point. Thanks. I'll probably wait until the detailed specs are released. I'm guessing this is why OWC hasn't updated their website yet with the new iMac. They want to see the detailed specs.
