I know Apple says only 2011 macs, but was wondering if 2010 MBP that have discrete video cards might have slipped in and be able to do Airplay mirroring in Mountain Lion.

Can anyone who installed check it out and confirm one way or the other?

Hello!

I installed Mountain Lion and have a 15" MBP late 2010.
And unfortunately there are no AirPlay-symbol in the menu bar. :-(

I found this thread while searching for eventually hacks! :)

Please tell me if you come up with anything! :)

Kind regards
John Norrby

I thought as long as you had the h.264 decoder chip you'd have airplay mirroring enabled?

@johnnorrby it will only appear you have another mirroring device available. Go into System Preferences and then into Display. On the bottom of the app you should see a check box "Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available", if you do I think it means you have AirPlay mirroring.

Well, looks like we are out of luck. :-(

Oh well, I guess it's Air Parrot for us. It would have been nice....

(They need to get surround sound working with Airplay, then it would be awesome)
