The last 2 updates of 15.5/6 have broken my external drive that is used for Time Machine. It’s a USB 3.0 external disk plugged in via an Apple USB to USB-C adapter.

The disk is no longer seen and, from what I have figured out so far, the option to allow connected USB devices is missing from the OSX!

Anyone know how to fix this from command line or some other method?

The option to allow or deny USB devices is only on Apple Silicon laptops, not desktops, so it's normal that option is not available.

Not the answer I was hoping for but an answer nonetheless. I’ve submitted my feedback to Apple about this. Doubt they will do anything. I’ve resorted to setting up a network share on my NAS to TM to.

Are they externally powered storage devices or NVMe, SSD, HD in an enloclosure?

I have no issues accessing an external WD easystore 14 TB USB 3.0 storage device when either directly connected to my M1 Max Studio, Pro M3 14" MBP, or via 2-port USB-C (+USB-C powered) switch.

I use an IOGear GUS42C keyboard/mouse/peripheral switch to toggle between them systems most of the time. Note: I unmount the external drives before switching to the other system and the extrrnal drives auto-remount no problem.

Have you verified on a different computer that the disk and enclosure are still working as expected? I've been using a USB disk with Time Machine on an M4 mini running 15.5/15.6 and now macOS 26 betas without any problems.
