So there are rumors that around July/August we might see a 15.5" MBA.

What are people's thoughts?

Would you sell your M2 13.6" MBA for the 15.5"?

It may even be an M3 by that time.

I have a credit from Apple and if I sold my 13.6" I could probably spend a couple hundred to get the larger model. I think I would go for it.

Do you think the rumor is true or just hype? I think a 15.5" MBA would eat into MBP sales but as long as Apple makes a profit they may not care and it might spike sales.

What do you think pricing might be?

I say $1399 or 1499 for the base model and $1999 for a model with 16gb ram and 512gb SSD maybe $1899 to have some difference in the MBP but close to that cost.

I think it would be worth it but a lot of other people would say it is a bad deal because the MBP would go on sale and cost almost the same.

I would be looking to make the jump from my 2016 13" Pro. I've been holding out for a while for a slightly bigger screen. The 14" Pro was too chunky and too powerful for my needs so a 15" Air would be perfect.

Alternatively, since I'm finding myself upgrading my tech less and less often nowadays, I might just carry on using my machine for another few years, or until it becomes difficult to use.

For 1999, unless one is looking to save some 200gr of weight and, maybe, just maybe, gain 2-3h in battery life(no one knows at the moment), MBP 14 would be much better value, especially build quality wise, cause you cant compare MBA 13.6 even to M1 MBA, let alone 14" MBP, I.M.H.O.

I wouldnt mind owning 15" ultralight Macbook with M2 or M3, fanless and with battery life that is at least as good as M1/M2 MBA's, but it will come at a price - worse build quality(all of the M2 Air's I have played with had far less torsion resistance than M1 Air's or even 14" Pro's, more flexible keyboard decks and palmrests as well, smoke all the copium you want, people, its a fact, plus make it bigger while keeping the same design and keeping it also as light as possible will only lead to even more flexiness of parts of the laptop while paying Apple's asking price in €€€ for inferior build), maybe even lower battery life than M2 13.6 Air(thats how you reach bigger size and keep the weight lower - smaller battery, which doesnt go well with bigger screen) and it being Air - still the same paltry number of ports, only magsafe and two USB4.

For 1599€ in my local market with 16GB/512GB combo I could be happy camper perhaps even with possbile issues Ive mentioned above, but it wont be priced like that anywhere in Europe.

while i think a 15"-ish MBA will be great, as i love fanless devices (definitely should have an XDR and ProMotion screen though), i wouldn't sell anything as i'm perfectly happy with my setup, comprising of one 13" M1 MBA and one 16" M1 MBP.

i might think about it when it comes to buying a new laptop, which should happen in 5 to 6 years earliest (if no hardware failures occur in the meanwhile of course), but then again, i also like the portability that 13" provide

price wise, i think it will be expensive, at least here in Europe.
wouldn't be surprised if we're supposed to pay 1900, maybe even 2000€ for the base 8/256GB model, if we're talking about a 15" XDR/ProMotion equipped MBA

Nope, I love my smaller screen. I got the monitor if I really need more screen real estate. But my favourite spot to just use it is resting it on the arm rest of my couch and just browse the web and check some emails. When im getting more heavy duty stuff done, I hook it up to my 27" QHD monitor.

After having the 16" MBP I thought I would miss the larger screen but honestly I haven't and I am not sure why?

I had a 14" MBP and I felt that the screen was too small and the notch was more noticeable but with the air I don't.

I don't know if I am crazy or what but I do find the 13" screen to be a good size.

I am also not sure if I got the 15.5" if I would like the extra weight but it would be evenly distributed over the larger size so it might be a mute point.

For me it will really depend on pricing and if they put a new chip in it by then.

All of these rumors about M3 on 3nm but my instincts tell me that they are all untrue. Why would Apple suddenly change their roadmap? M1 was based on a14 and M2 was based on a15 then M3 should be based on a16 (4nm) and m4 should be based on a17 which should be a 3nm chip. This seems like the most reasonable approach and more likely than M2 Pro being 3nm. But I don't know anything and it is all anyone's guess until Apple actually announced their product line for next year.

I am pretty happy with my M2 MBA and I may wait a couple years before I replace it or I might really want the 15.5". Time will tell.

I've arrived at the conclusion that i love as small a footprint as possible. 13" or thereabouts is perfect.

But when it comes to laptops, one size definitely doesn't fit all. I welcome the 15" Air for those who want it and don't feel they're the target audience of the Pro's all other bells and whistles.

It will probably be a battery-life champion!
