so i have a question...

i bought a rev. a aluminum 15" powerbook back right when they first came out. within a couple weeks i noticed i was a victim of the whitespot problem. however i didnt feel like giving up my computer for whatever amount of time and didnt fix it right away. i had applecare so i knew i had 3 years to replace it. anyways, i still havent replaced the screen. so my question is, if i were to do it now, or in the future, what are the chances i get one of these nice new displays??

the longer you wait, the better your chances I would imagine, as back stock depletes.

Tech Restore does iBook/Powerbook repairs overnight. They send you a special box that you send out and get back the next day I think. Great service, but you pay for it, its up to you.

yea, since i have applecare, and also the problem is covered by apple even if you dont, im gonna go ahead and let apple do it... and im not so concerned about not having it for a couple days... i was just wanting to know my chances of getting the new display in it... im kinda hoping i can benefit off of waiting so long...

Compatible?

It may not be as simple as you think. I'm not an expert in this regard, but it is possible that the new screen has a fundamental incompatibility with your current hardware. It could be as basic as a diffferent connector (not unlikely if your hinge is different from the latest powerbooks) or an incompatibility between your graphics card and the new screens. Just a thought.
