Two questions.

1. Does it run cooler than the 12 inch AlBook and the old TiBook? How much cooler?

2. I've heard battery life is as low as 1.5 hours but haven't heard anything else on it. Is it really that bad??

Okay that was three questions. Sue me. :D

Thanks!

4200rpm or 5400 rpm

How much battery drain is there with the 5400 drive over the 4200 drive or is there a noticeable difference

As far as I understand from the Apple Discussions forums it does run cooler, but is still a little too warm for some. Apparently they prioritized silence over cooling.

Someone quoted an Apple guy saying thay you should divide the official battery life by a factor of two :) So expect 2 through 2.5 hours.

I think the first 5400 rpm models arrive later this week. It will be very interesting to see benchmarks, and learn which model it is (some say Hitachi, some Fujitsu).

I've got a 4200 rpm machine, and the battery life is about 2 hours. Not thrilled with that but still it's fine for most of my purposes. The machine does get quite hot but it is quiet and the fan only occasionally comes on - that was really a prioty for me more than anything else.

Does it get as hot as the old TiBook? Too hot for leaving it on your lap?

The heat is more of a priority for me than the noise.

Which Apple Discussion Forums? Have people said its too warm to keep in one's lap?

As far as battery life goes, 2-2.5 is still kinda low. Guess I should test out my 12" and see what it gets, as its life has been enough for me for the most part.

I haven't heard anything about this. What's the deal with the 5400 vs. 4200? Are the laptops going to be getting upgrades?

You can spend more money and get a hard drive that takes more power and generates more heat and is supposedly faster.
