So is this good news for the Merom waiters?
 
Merom waiters will probably go "Meh" when it is just a chip swap with no new graphics chip/hdd panel/1gb standard ram/magnetic latches/one more thing and come back to take advantage of this great offer after they figure that 64 bit is just not worth 500 bucks.

You yanks can get the same speced MBP for A$2800 refurbished, so it is not all that bad.

Yeah I was thinking about that, but it is a hard decision when paired with the cost of a new low-end MBP with student discount.
