Hi all, sorry I'm a newbie to these forums!

I've currently got a MacBook Pro 15-inch, 2.53GHz, Mid 2009 model.

I am using a Samsung SyncMaster 27" display as my primary, I almost always use this MacBook in Clamshell mode, single monitor.

I currently use a Mini Display Port to HDMI cable, and the Samsung monitor runs at 1080p 60hz happily. I don't get any lag etc.

However, I'm getting more involved with photo editing / graphic design and would like a higher resolution screen.

I'm looking at the Dell Ultrasharp U2713H 27" (or equivalent, if someone can recommend better!)

It looks to have a resolution of 2560 x 1440 at 60 Hz

It also has a mini display port input, so I figured that a MDP to MDP cable would let me use this resolution from my MacBook Pro.
Am I wrong?

Will my MBP even output this resolution at all?

I've been trying to read up and it looks like I need to convert from Mini Display Port to Dual Link DVI?

I'm so confused!

Thank you for any help in advance.

Many Thanks,

Alex
