Hello Folks,
I recently destroyed my 15" MacBook Pro retina. It was the smallest available model 2,3GHZ with 8GB ram and 256GB SSD. I'm a developer and need to replace it ASAP with the funds I have available. With these funds I am able to get a used macbook with the same configuration as the one I broke. But I also got a rare offer for a maxed out 17" 2,2GHZ i7 quad core with 16GB. For the same price.
So I'd like some opinions in an effort to check myself and help make the wisest decision possible. Some may not understand some of the following but I do some classical composition, photo and video work in my free time. Working with logic, Final Cut Pro, and diverse adobe tools. I code mostly with panic coda and run mamp pro for apache, php and SQL. Have mongo db and node.js installed as well. The point is my machine needs to be as versatile and future proof as possible.
So should I
1. Replace my modest current flagship model
2. Go or the last generation 17" maxed out to the brim
3. Get a temporary cheap solution so I can at least get back to work (MBA for example) and save up for something better
I would greatly appreciate some insight..
