Currently have my 15" MBP 2017 with i7 2.8Ghz and was wondering if anyone has some 15" MBP 2018 with the i7 2.2Ghz and could share some temperature screenshots.

Reason i'm asking is because this is the 3rd time i have issues with my keyboard on the 2017 MBP and Apple offered to repair it again or replace it with a brand new 2018 model.

My 2017 MBP is dead silent on my usage, i never heard the fans spinning unless i was using bootcamp and i wouldn't want to get the 2018 if is running much hotter than my model and will hear the fans all the time.

Actually people report that the 2018 is more silent than the 2017. One of the reasons it is hotter :)

Don't even think about it, replace it with the 2018

1, tell us your usage, would make it easier for us to help
2, Look into the throttling threads, there is lot of discussion on temperature in there

Light usage most of the time, Safari and Chrome running always with few tabs, some Photoshop and that's pretty much it. :)

dude, get the 2018 and then do the research. if you are not happy, sell the sealed unit for top dollars.

I still have time to think before i make the decission, but thanks for the advice :)

Then as far as I have heard the 2.2GHz should not pose any noise or heat concerns compared to your current system. The concerns have come up in prolonged heavy CPU usage such as long renderings, and other cpu intensive task.
It also seems to drift towards agreeing that the 2.2GHz is the best option as it is able to keep turbo boost for longer and won't throttle as much as the to other model under heavy load

Putting the i9 in front of an air conditioner vent would probably would probably negate thermal throttling due to chilling effect on laptop. I read in several places that the i9 runs great hen in a freezer.
