So I've owned my 15" MBP i9 16GB RX560 for two years now and I just got a warning message stating I need to service my battery after only 240 cycles. I thought these batteries could go 1,000 cycles before deteriorating? That was literally one of the selling points on why I bought a MBP.

Also, my laptop drains when it's sleeping when it's not plugged in. I discovered this when I went on vacation a few months ago and noticed my laptop completely dead after a 4hr flight. I'm not quite sure what's draining it and it could be one of the reasons my battery is messing up. What do you guys think I should do? Thanks in advance.

I’d definitely recommend reaching out to Apple and seeing if they can provide some help. This looks like it could be a faulty battery so they may replace it under warranty. Do you have AppleCare on this device by any chance? If so, that would make it much more likely they’d be willing to freely replace the battery though I still believe they would replace it if you’re persistent enough.

That's not what they state. They'll usually claim "up to 80% capacity" after 1000 cycles. 80% is the threshold where the recommend replacement, so it may hit that prior to 1000 cycles. You're on the low end, but I have seen swollen batteries that had >80% capacity.

If it's under warranty they'll probably replace it. I haven't had much luck with Apple, even a couple months outside of applecare expiry. Your luck may differ, as these should typically last to the 3-4 year mark. Battery replacement is around $200 if performed by Apple.
