15" MBP from mid '07 speakers don't function

The speakers in my MacBook Pro don't make a sound unless I plug headphones in, and the headphones don't work then. When there are no headphones, the volume control still works fine. I had the problem with the red light a few months ago also.

Unplug and plug in the jack about 5 times, then reset the PRAM by starting it up and then pressing cmd alt p and r.

Ok, it didn't work at first but after 5 minutes it started working again. Thanks!
