15" MBP: Late-2013 refurb or Mid-2014 edu?

Hello, which base model should I buy for general use as a student?
- Late-2013 refurb for $1529
- Mid-2014 with edu discount for $1899

I can get by with 8GB RAM, I use a VM, but mostly just one instance at a time. That's about a $400 difference after tax. With a new model out next year, hate to buy new right now. Is there a compelling reason to get the 2014?

Either one works fine, the speed bump in 2014 is a nice little one but doesn't really make a huge impact on the day to day operation. I prefer new, so I'd be leaning towards that myself.
